In Person: Mullet House Visit

In Person: Mullet House Visit

Convened By: David Todd + Daniel Hason

This is an invitation to an interwoven story of human, land, and home stewardship in Cold Spring N.Y. We’ll be visiting the home, office, and prized project of Ethan & Erin, the principals of The Figure Ground Studio.

About this GATHERING

Inspired by the “Living Building Challenge” which is noted as one of the most innovative and impactful building standards out there, this project features local, site harvested hardwoods, custom details throughout, Living Building Challenge Red List free materials, Passive House construction technology, FSC lumber, a native wildflower meadow, site water harvesting features, and more!

The tour will feature regenerative landscape design principles in action, and will discuss the challenges, benefits, and wonder of working within the parameters of natural systems during the design process and as residents of the home. We have a unique perspective as the designers and occupants (with our family) of this high performance home.

We will discuss the importance of site selection and building orientation as they relate to our own design philosophies as well as the Living Building Challenge.

This project was also featured at the 2019 Hudson Valley Passive House Pro Tour and the North East Sustainable Energy Association 2019 Pro Tour Series.
