The Pulse of the Modular Movement

The Pulse of the Modular Movement

Led By: Karen benner & Audree grubesic

Modular and offsite construction technologies have a century-old history, and today's innovative real estate businesses are circling back to embrace standardization, improved quality-control, reduced waste and many other benefits that enhance modern construction methods.

Why? Because it's high time we start building with greater care for the earth, our workforce, our clients and communities. This presentation will show how offsite construction can help.

We’ll use Latitude's five Roots of Regeneration (health & wellness, sustainability, community, ecology, and spirit of place) as our guide. We'll share our experience and expertise to educate you on prefab construction, providing key take-aways for Realtors, architects, developers, contractors, appraisers, and investors. We'll showcase how the modular movement positively impacts people and planet.

karen benner

Karen fell in love with the idea of designing and building homes through a sixth grade assignment. After completing degrees in engineering and construction management, she worked in the production homebuilding industry for 20-years, contributing to the development of over 3,000 homes in six states.

In 2004 she was thrilled to join a development team as the leader of product innovation, and encouraged to learn about sustainable construction practices. She quickly earned the nickname “Queen of Green” and over the next 10-years she championed Green Building certification of over 800 market-rate & affordable homes, helping her to win Best-In-Green Young Professional of the Year in 2015 by the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB).

Since 2018 Karen has been a residential construction industry consultant, including working with two high performance modular home providers in her newly adopted city of Pittsburgh, PA. She is passionate about Preconstruction Planning, Workforce Development, Healthy Home Advocacy, Consumer Education, and Collaborating not Competing. Real Estate that serves People & Planet is at the heart of all her work.
