The Kubala Washatko Architects
The Kubala Washatko Architects (TKWA) is a full-service architecture, planning, and interior design studio. Established in 1980, they embrace a design philosophy of Wholeness, where the built environment supports and enhances both human activity and natural living systems. TKWA designed the world's first carbon-neutral building, the Leopold Legacy Center in Baraboo, Wisconsin.
Their design process is centered on Pattern Writing, a bottom-up, listen-first, ego-less process that builds deep consensus and understanding among people, places and use. TKWA has completed projects across the country, in Europe and in China. They are also a nationally-recognized planner of environmental centers, camps and natural areas.
